LOOK AFTER IT

Backups & recovery

HostRyx saves encrypted WordPress files and database backups on a separate local drive. Independent restoration and a live restore switch have been tested. An offsite copy is not included.

Read the latest completed record

Open Backups and choose the website using search or Selected website to see Backup history. Each record includes its time, size, status and verification result. Only verified saved records can be selected for a customer restore.

Daily backups are scheduled automatically. Check the latest successful timestamp rather than assuming the schedule guarantees a fresh backup during an outage.

Create a backup before a significant change

Choose Create backup before changing themes, important plugins or substantial content. Wait for the operation to complete and the new verified record to appear.

An in-progress operation can temporarily disable other controls. Refresh details if you need the latest state; do not repeatedly submit the same operation.

Understand retention and storage

Retention protects at least the latest three verified recovery points and keeps recent daily, four weekly and three monthly points where available. Incomplete records and copies involved in recovery are protected from automatic cleanup.

Platform backup archives are stored separately from the website’s files-and-database quota. The local backup drive helps recover from website mistakes but does not protect against losing the whole hosting PC and its backup drive.

Restore a verified backup deliberately

Choose Restore beside a verified record, review the backup date and type the current website hostname to confirm. This replaces files and the database; later posts, orders, uploads and other changes may be lost.

Before switching, HostRyx saves a fresh safety copy, restores and checks a separate deployment, then switches after validation. A safety copy may require staff verification before it can be selected for a customer restore.

After restoration or a backup error

Wait for the operation to finish, then check your website, logins, media and key integrations. The previous deployment is retained for operator recovery if inspection is needed.

If a backup fails or the latest timestamp is overdue, contact Support with the website and record time. Do not share private backup contents, database credentials or recovery keys in a support message.

Keep exploring.
